Curriculum Vitae

TOMMASO CONTINISIO is an Adjunct Instructor in English at Tor Vergata University of Rome, where he earned his European PhD in English Literature.

His research focuses on early modern English drama and Elizabethan culture, particularly 17th-century tragicomedy and the dynamics of power, gender and politics on the early modern stage.

He has published on playwrights including Shakespeare, Middleton, Heywood and Ford. He co-edited a collection of essays on the cultural anxieties surrounding female rule in Elizabethan drama (with Bianca Del Villano, 'Queens on Stage: Female Power and Sovereignty in Early Modern English Theatre', Aracne 2018) and guest-edited a special issue of 'Linguæ&' on taboos (with Rossana Sebellin, 'Unmasking the Unspoken. Beyond the Edges of Taboos', 2024).

He is currently preparing a monograph on Thomas Middleton’s tragicomedies and leading the first annotated English-Italian translation of Middleton’s 'The Witch'.
